A variety of topics to include: Chronic Disease Management, End Stage Parkinson's, Management of Delirium, Palliative Approach to Long-Term Care, and Dementia Management. Its objective is to enhance the knowledge of several important issues in residential care today and to provide support for practitioners in their medical communities.

Sexual health is important to patients, but may be neglected by clinicians due to lack of training, fluency or comfort. In society and as individuals we recognize sex's role in pleasure, relationships and identity. As clinicians, however, we direct our attention primarily to the negative consequences of sex: preventing or addressing conception, disease and violence. We may also forget that some aspects of sexuality have nothing to do with sex.

This conference seeks to expand the clinical conversation about sexual health, which is relevant to all clinicians - whether we work in primary care, specialty or focused practice. If and how we have those conversations has profound impacts for our patients.

This four day intensive course offers a unique small group learning opportunity for practitioners who wish to gain practical skills to take back to their communities. The days will include presentations from UBC faculty experts, case based discussions, interactive polls, self-reflection quizzes, and hands-on workshops.

    WEDOClogo

WEDOC is a not for profit annual gathering of emergency administrative, clinical leaders, and front line providers - dedicated to improving the efficiency and effectiveness of delivery of emergency care in Canada, particularly western Canada.  By its nature, Emergency Medicine reinforces characteristics of pragmatism, innovation, creative problem solving, and collaboration. Our community recognizes the challenges of rising health care costs and growing, demographically-driven demands, and seeks to address them. The 2017 theme is “The Precarious Path to the No Wait ED”. Basically the push and pull of the desire from the public and health officials to “drive down wait times” while doing so under financial constraints ....while also providing quality patient care. We are looking forward specifically to hearing from everyone! This is expected to be a highly interactive course!

    WEDOClogo

Situated on the majestic seashore of beautiful Victoria BC, this year’s conference was inspired by surfing imagery. The surfer represents our emergency teams walking fearlessly into the wild ocean of the ED, into overwhelming waves of patients with uncertainty and danger lurking just beneath the surface.  With various cross-provincial speaker panels, invited speakers, and innovative abstracts, we expect to tackle many shared issues and ideas to improve our EDs. Our popular learning buffets will be back — where participants meet with speakers in intimate small table discussions to learn, share, and expand on various concepts. We are also bringing back the awards for the BEST PERFORMING EDs awards!
