The 4th Annual UBC heart failure symposium will take place June 7th and 8th at the Sheraton Wall Center in Vancouver, British Columbia. Coming off the resounding success of our 3rd annual symposium in 2018, we are excited to bring new topics and more interactive sessions to this year’s symposium. The over-all theme of the symposium will be Contemporary Care of HF.

Once again, the symposium will begin with a Friday evening session co-sponsored by the Canadian Heart Failure Society and Cardiac Services BC. The theme for this session will be the Interplay between Heart Failure and Arrhythmias. The themes for the Saturday sessions will be ‘Streamlining HF Care in BC’ and Recent Advances in HF Care. As previously, there will be numerous workshops that attendees can attend based on their interest.

We continue to target a diverse audience including, general practitioners, internists, cardiologists, nurses, allied health providers as well astrainees.

The BC Rural Health Conference is hosted by RCCbc and supported by the JSC. This event offers accredited learning (sessional and hands-on workshops) about topics involving rural medicine, emergency medicine, wilderness medicine, and physician resiliency. Designed by rural physicians, this event is facilitated and taught by BC physicians and provides practitioners with the opportunity to share knowledge, update and/or learn new skills, and to discuss cases within a larger group to facilitate learning and support.

The BC Substance Use Conference 2019 is the first annual conference hosted by the BC Centre on Substance Use, bringing together key stakeholders from around the province to discuss provincial efforts to treat and care for people with substance use disorders. This three day event will include research, education, and clinical care guidance presentations and workshops across several topics within substance use including opioid, alcohol, and cannabis use disorders.

CAMAP is a national not-for-profit medical association whose mission is to support MAiD assessors and providers in their work, educate both the public and the health care community about MAiD, and provide leadership on determining medical standards and guidelines. We expect our conference will once again draw a large, multidisciplinary group of attendees including family physicians, medical specialists, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, legal counsel, administrators and policy makers.

The Canadian Collaborative Mental Health Care Conference aims to advance collaborative practice in mental health care in primary care and community settings. Our scope includes intra- and interprofessional collaboration, as well as collaboration with clients and caregivers. We value multiple forms of knowledge and ‘evidence’ including scientific knowledge, pragmatic knowledge of front line healthcare providers and administrators, and experiential knowledge of people using mental health  services, and throughout the conference we seek to promote dialogue between these different perspectives.

This one and a half day conference was planned with the Primary Care Physician in mind and will endeavour to provide education in dermatology focusing on practical diagnosis and management. The conference format has been very successful and will continue unchanged with a mixture of 30 minute plenary lectures and small group interactive sessions. The interactive case discussions on the last afternoon are very popular and provide participants the opportunity to share experiences and to question the experts.

The conference is the result of collaboration between the UBC Department of Dermatology and Skin Science and the UBC Division of Continuing Professional Development. The speakers are drawn from the teaching faculty of the UBC Department of Dermatology and Community Dermatologists.
